I loved Gatto's idea, saying that we dont need school to be educated and showed many people from history who were successful without going to school. I completely support that idea, because i do believe a person can be successful and can survive without school. That we can educate ourselves. There so many things that i taught myself that i didn't learn from teachers.

I'm glad this person was able to think critically about Gatto. However I wonder what he is doing in school if he doesn't really believe in it. Ego?
ReplyDeleteI agree with the point he made about there are historical people in our background that turned out successful. But they wouldn't of been successful without the basic background of school and then using their will power to learn into their interest more deeply!
ReplyDeleteI agree partially with your point about what we can learn outside of the classroom, though I do think that school is important in some areas or careers, depending mostly on what you are studying. If you are more into poetry or art, there is a ton you could learn on your own, but you have no chance in going anywhere in the med feild without degrees and the content you learn in a proper school.

I completely agree with your point of view. Schools are there to teach us things that we ourselves can learn outside the classroom setting but it can give you also degrees that cant be acquired outside. So there are positives and negatives to this.
